Ableton Live has completely changed the way producers perform live. It can basically turn your computer into a stand-alone instrument that you can control with various controllers to perform your music live on your own or with other musicians. It can basically do anything that you would want music software to do.

If you are a hip hop producer and like to use samples from other music to make beats Ableton Live is great. Its time stretch feature allows you to take the sample and change the tempo without changing the pitch at all. Then you can layer the samples with other samples you have to make a whole new tune. When playing live you can use the drag and drop screen to trigger those samples in any order and in any combination when you play them live. It allows you to perform your music completely differently every time that you play live. So it makes your show more interactive which will lead to more people wanting to come to your shows.

Another great thing about Ableton Live compared to other music software is that while it does MIDI you don’t only have to use the instruments that come with the software. Live also host VSTs. VSTs are software instruments that you can host on your computer. They are sometimes original instruments and sometimes copies of hardware keyboards that are on the market. This will make your live performances even richer because of the wide pallet of sounds that you can use when playing live.

You can also record audio into Ableton Live. This means that you can put your own vocals and sample yourself singing. This means you don’t need the back- up singers that other bands need. You can play to your own tracks which will ensure that your music is the way that you like it every time.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Ableton Live can do. I still have not stopped learning about the software as I have been using it. It is a great tool in the arsenal of any musician.
